Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Downtown La Mesa District Sign groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, Feb. 3rd to kick off construction of the new Downtown District Sign! We will keep you updated on the progress as soon as we have more to share.
This landmark archway will span La Mesa Blvd. at Palm Ave. and reflects a true community collaboration, featuring two support columns adorned with a “Community Quilt” of more than 1,500 hand-painted tiles created by residents and local businesses.
The Downtown District Sign is a community
project led by the La Mesa Village Association in partnership with the La Mesa
Park & Recreation Foundation (Fiscal Sponsor) to build a new focal point in
downtown La Mesa. The sign will be located in the heart of the Village at La
Mesa Blvd. and Palm Ave. and consist of two columns adorned with beautiful
brass plaques and hand-painted tiles funded through community
donations.
We are happy to report that ALL tiles have been purchased and painted and ALL plaques have been purchased as well. We look forward to seeing the construction and installation of the sign soon! Stay tuned for more information and ribbon cutting details as we get closer.
